The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food has announced grants for professional organizations in the fishing and aquaculture sectors, totaling 300,000 euros for 2024.
These grants, co-financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF), seek to strengthen professional organizations in the industry and reinforce their organizational structure.
Producer organizations, their associations, and fishing interprofessional organizations, that have received this distinction in the last five years, are eligible for these grants.
Each beneficiary will receive a grant of up to 100,000 euros, with the EMFF co-financing a maximum of 70%, and the remaining 30% covered by national funds, after culminating a competitive process.
Spain also announced grants for financing fishing and aquaculture transformative projects that involve more than 1.5 million euros in investment in July.
The projects that will receive the most attention are those related to energy efficiency, circular economy, new products, packaging improvements, traceability systems, efficient water use, and all aspects of safety, hygiene, health, and working conditions.
The grants, aimed at promoting the modernization and digitalization of the sector, its competitiveness, and its sustainable economic growth, are funded by the European Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (PRTR).
