Clean Seas Seafood shareholders have now voted in favour of the merger, which would see the seafood firm, currently listed on Australia's ASX, move into private ownership.

Yumbah Aquaculture has proposed a merger with fellow Australian aquaculture company Clean Seas Seafood.

The two-year project will focus on developing a sustainable fishery value chain in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

This region has the longest coastline in New Zealand and is known for its cold and clean waters.

"Yumbah's BAP certification reflects a strong commitment to responsible aquaculture," said the Coordinator of the Global Seafood Alliance in Australia.

The Clean Seas board has unanimously voted in favour of the merger. If approved, the deal will see the seafood firm, currently listed on Australia's ASX, move into private ownership.
