Norwegian aquaculture technology provider Stingray Marine Solutions has announced the appointment of Kristin Skogen Lund as the new Chair of the Board as part of its strategic plans to drive the business forward.
Previously, Skogen Lund served as CEO of the media and technology group Schibsted for six years. She was also Director General of the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) from 2012 to 2018, and Executive Vice President at Telenor from 2010 to 2012.
"Stingray has every opportunity to expand internationally in the coming years and to be a leading technology company from Norway, pioneering in fish welfare, sustainability, and artificial intelligence," she said.
Additionally, Karl Johan Lier, who led the Norwegian company AutoStore for over 14 years and oversaw one of the largest initial public offerings (IPOs) in recent years, has joined the board as a new member.
"I hope to contribute with experiences that can help elevate the company even further. Stingray has built a unique company culture and already has world-leading technology, so I am excited to be part of this journey,” Lier indicated.
In October 2024, life science investment firm Novo Holdings, the holding company for Danish multinational pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, acquired a majority stake in Stingray Marine Solutions.
The Stingray system employs a combination of camera vision, proprietary software, and laser technology to eliminate sea lice from salmon without harming the fish. In 2024, it reported revenue of NOK 831 million and a net profit of approximately NOK 100 million.
Finally, CEO John Arne Breivik noted: "With Novo Holdings as our new majority shareholder, it opens up opportunities we could only dream of before. We are incredibly pleased to have this support and to know that we are closely aligned with our main owners and board members from Novo, which helps us realize our ambitious plans going forward."
