Canada's Poseidon Ocean Systems has announced it has appointed Chris Beattie as its new Commercial Director, adding an experienced aquaculture and marine technology executive to its leadership team.
Beattie brings more than 25 years of executive experience within aquaculture, biotechnology and marine technology sectors to his new position, having previously held senior roles at aquaculture technology specialist AKVA Group, as well as Merck Animal Health, AquaBounty, and aquaculture feed company Skretting.
In the new role, Beattie will oversee Poseidon’s global commercial strategy. "As a key member of our executive team, Chris will lead Poseidon’s global commercial strategy; strengthening customer partnerships, expanding market presence, and aligning our sales, marketing, and customer success functions to support long-term growth," the company said, announcing the appointment in a LinkedIn post.
"We are excited to have Chris join us at this important stage of our growth and look forward to the impact he will bring to our team, our customers, and the future of aquaculture," the company added.
In December, Poseidon secured CAD 20 million (around EUR 13.5m / USD 14.7m) in backing from Export Development Canada, which the company said would support wider deployment of its aquaculture technologies and increase its manufacturing capacity.
The company also recently announced that its Chilean division is partnering with Kran Nanobubble, focusing on environmental and production management in Chile’s salmon farming sector.
