Andfjord Salmon has signed two agreements with Trøndelag-based company Meox and water treatment company Sterner to secure sludge collection and processing for its current construction phase at Kvalnes.

Regarding these initiatives, Andfjord Salmon's COO Christian Halmøy Torgersen said: "Finding the right suppliers, who can solve our sludge treatment needs safely and well and who also share our ambitions for continuous improvement and development, has been an extensive process. Both Meox and Sterner have a good track record of delivering on goals, while at the same time working in a focused manner to improve results."

Remotely Operated Vehicles from Meox

Meox will deliver Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) to clean the floors and walls of the new pools the salmon company is building. These ROVs will be self-propelled and are a newer version than those previously provided to Andfjord for its first pool.

"Our work with the company is characterized by a good and close collaboration where we work together towards common goals that require the development of innovative technology solutions. We share the ambition of improving efficiency in purification and environmentally friendly solutions and are proud to be able to contribute to sustainable growth in the aquaculture industry," stated Kristian Hjertvik, CEO of Meox.

Water treatment systems by Sterner

Sterner's water treatment systems will secure important nutrients that will allow further circular use of the sludge at Kvalnes. This technology has been adapted to fit Andfjord Salmon's production system.

"We share Andfjord's strong focus on ensuring sustainability in the aquaculture industry and are proud to have entered into an agreement that will contribute to environmentally friendly growth," noted Robert Eliassen, Head of sludge treatment and biogas at Sterner.

In late May, the Smir Group signed a contract with Andfjord Salmon to supply its waterborne feeding system, Smirfeeder™, to their land-based facilities in Andøya. The Group is confident this is the first step toward future collaborations with the Norwegian land-based salmon farming company.
