TMC Compressors (TMC), a Norwegian company that designs compressed air systems for marine and offshore use, will supply its flagship product to a krill fishing vessel being handled by Tersan Shipyard.
The Turkish shipyard is building this vessel for Aker QRILL Company, headquartered in Norway. The order announcement was published by WeAreAquaculture in January 2025. The delivery, to be completed in 2026, will also include a modern instrument air compressor.
In 2024, Aker BioMarine sold its feed ingredients division for USD 590 million (EUR 546.5 million). Aker Capital, part of the Aker Group, was one of the buyers, and Aker QRILL Company was established as a new, independent global entity.
"In recent years, we have supplied Tersan Shipyard with dozens of vessels, so we know how they operate, their preferences, and their high-quality standards. This helps to reduce risks in the supplier-contractor relationship. Additionally, it is exciting to have the opportunity to deliver our technology to another Norway-based company and such an innovative vessel," assured Hans-Petter Tanum, Sales and Business Development Director at TMC.
Aker QRILL Company's specific operational requirements include a 25-meter extension, advanced technological integrations, and sustainability-focused customizations. This will ensure the company complies with Norwegian fishing regulations.
Furthermore, the Norwegian international shipbuilding group VARD contracted in May 2025 TMC Compressors to supply its systems for a stern trawler being built for the Norwegian fishing company Havbryn AS.
