Norwegian aquaculture supplier Aquaservice reported yesterday the appointment of Andrea Catalán-Hernández as its Country Manager in Chile. This way, the expert in HDPE-based fish transport and water treatment equipment also announced its expansion to the South American country.

"We are very excited about this appointment," commented Asgeir Skogstad, Managing Director of Aquaservice. "Aquaservice has long been considering establishing a permanent presence in Chile. Andrea is a perfect fit for us, given her experience, knowledge and in-depth understanding of the Chilean aquaculture market. We see enormous potential in this market," he added.

"I am grateful and humbled to be given this exciting challenge at Aquaservice," said, for her part, the company's new Country Manager in Chile. "Aquaservice's products, experience and approach provide a very solid foundation for becoming a key player in the Chilean market for fish transport and water treatment equipment," she continued.

Catalán-Hernández, who joins the Norwegian aquaculture supplier company from her role as Head of Business Equipment Chile at ScaleAQ—also a Norway-based firm—, has 20 years of experience in the aquaculture industry, specializing in sales and customer service.

A graduate in Business Administration from the Chilean Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and Universidad de Los Lagos, she also holds diplomas in organizational and commercial management.

Overall responsibility for sales and customer relations in Chile

Prior to the announcement of her appointment, Andrea Catalán-Hernández spent a few weeks learning and training at Aquaservice's headquarters in Sykkylven, in the province of Møre og Romsdal, Vestlandet region, Norway.

"These weeks of learning and training at Aquaservice in Norway were, without a doubt, incredible... getting to know the people personally, seeing the factory and seeing their work up close was a truly transformative experience," she recapped in a LinkedIn post.

During that time, Aquaservice's new Country Manager in Chile also participated alongside her colleagues in Aquaculture UK, which, as WeAreAquaculture reported, was held on June 16 and 17 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Now, officially incorporated into her new position, Catalán-Hernández will have overall responsibility for sales and customer relations in Chile, with a particular focus on the Aquatrans fish transport valve, Aquafilter products, the Static Mixer and the Pool Line products.

The Chile office is Aquaservice's second international office following its entry into the UK market in 2025 with the establishment of Aquaservice Water Engineering UK Ltd. and the appointment of Duncan Ockendon as Sales Director for the United Kingdom.

Founded by Magnar Støylen in 1985, after having been part of OCEA, Steinsvik and subsequently ScaleAQ for several years, Aquaservice was acquired by its employees in 2021 and became once again an independent, locally owned company with a global market.

Currently, the company has approximately 35 employees, 12,000 m² of production facilities, a technical service department, a large machinery park, CNC machines, mirror welding equipment for large dimensions, extrusion welding equipment and a steel welding department.
