Aquatech firm Innovasea announced yesterday that it has named Amy Brookman as its new General Manager of its Fish Tracking operations. This appointment marks a further promotion for Brookman, who has held various leadership positions in marketing, product management, and sales since joining the company more than 15 years ago.

The new General Manager of Innovasea's Fish Tracking operations, who earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Akron and an MBA from Dalhousie University, first joined the company, then Amirix Systems, in 2010 as Product Manager for the company's Vemco acoustic telemetry line, a position she held for more than six years.

Brookman was subsequently promoted to Director of Product Management, a position she held for almost five years, before becoming Vice President of Sales for Fish Tracking, her most recent position before this appointment, which she has held for four years.

From Innovasea's Halifax office, she will now oversee all aspects of the company's fish tracking operations. This includes its acoustic telemetry solutions, led by the flagship NexTrak system, as well as its AI-based fish counting technology for hydroelectric power plants, HydroAI. As part of her new role, she will focus on the continued innovation of this product line.

According to the statement from the global leader in technologically advanced aquatic solutions for aquaculture and fish tracking, the emphasis of her work will be on providing customer-first solutions that enable the research community to collect high-quality data, leading to greater insights.

Taking over from the company's current CEO

With this appointment, Amy Brookman takes over the position previously held by Mark Jollymore, who was named permanent CEO of the aquatech company last November after serving on an interim basis for several months.

Like Brookman, Jollymore joined Innovasea following the company's acquisition of Amirix Systems, where he served as President and CEO, and led the Vemco brand to become a global leader in acoustic fish tracking, so the two have been working together for many years.

"Amy's deep market insight and strong leadership experience uniquely position her to strengthen our offerings and drive our next phase of growth," Mark Jollymore said now, commenting on Brookman's promotion. "Through her leadership, we are well-suited to accelerate innovation and continue to redefine what’s possible in acoustic telemetry," Innovasea CEO added.

"Our mission is to deliver a complete solution that empowers researchers to advance their work," Brookman added, for her part. "Our fish tracking unit has an incredibly rich history, and I feel privileged to be building upon this by leading and working alongside such a great team."

With more than 275 employees worldwide, Innovasea provides full end-to-end solutions for fish farming and aquatic species research – including quality equipment, expert consulting services, and innovative platforms and products that deliver data, information, and insights.

The company is part of the portfolio of the Cuna del Mar impact investment fund which, under the leadership of its recently appointed Managing Partner, Donald Grant, seeks to move from being a pioneer to becoming a global catalyst, ready to democratize its knowledge of aquaculture and accelerate the development of technologies, practices, and models to support coastal economies, while leading the "next era of regenerative aquaculture."
