The Norwegian Seafood Council has announced that it has appointed a new envoy to the U.S. Karine Rød Haraldsson, who comes from the position of Business Manager at Findus Norway, will officially take up her new position on May 2.
However, even before that, in mid-March, she will participate in this year's Seafood Expo North America (SENA) to learn more about Norwegian exporters and the local value chain.
This relief at the head of the NSC delegation in the United States follows the appointment of new envoys to Italy, France, and Africa last year.
In her position at Findus Norway, Karine Rød Haraldsson was responsible for various customers in the value chain, QSR (quick-service restaurant) in the Nordics, and other export-oriented businesses. Her main customers include well-known companies such as Unil, Coop, Rema, McDonald's, Burger King, and IKEA, in several countries such as Taiwan, South Korea, and Iceland.
Likewise, her 12 years of experience at Findus and previous work at Nortura, her solid expertise in marketing and sales, especially within FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), Foodservice, and B2B.
Moreover, NSC's new U.S. representative also has valuable experience in the U.S. market, including her responsibility with international clients at Findus and most recently as project manager for a U.S. salmon retail project.
"I feel very privileged to be able to work on promoting seafood products in the USA at a time that may be challenging for the export industry," Karine Rød Haraldsson said commenting on her appointment.
"The U.S. is a large market with untapped opportunities. I look forward to building on the cooperation we have with exporters today and contributing to their success with both existing and new products in the years ahead," she explained.
To achieve this, she will not be alone. Before Christmas, the Norwegian Seafood Council's U.S. team was further strengthened with Hilde Larsen Mostue, who comes from the REMA 1000 system, as marketing manager and project manager in the marketing department.
"With Karine and Hilde on board, we have a powerhouse team with broad and relevant expertise. Together, they are ready to continue and develop the excellent work led by Anne-Kristine Øen over the past five years. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Anne-Kristine for her valuable contributions to Norwegian seafood in the USA," said Børge Grønbech, Director of Global Operations.
The U.S. market accounts for approximately 23% of the world salmon market, and, in January alone, Norway sold more than NOK 1 billion worth of salmon to the U.S. Never before it had exported fish and shellfish worth as much to this market. Indeed, the U.S. was the largest single market for Norwegian seafood exports in January and was so in terms of both value and sales.
