Ireland’s Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon, has confirmed the appointment of Martin Sisk as chairperson of the Marine Institute for a five-year term.
The Seafood Academy, a national programme designed to help independent Irish seafood businesses with training, development and consumer engagement, debuts this week in the fishing village of Howth.
Caroline Bocquel is stepping down in November, after almost three years leading Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), to take on a new role as head of Fáilte Ireland.
"This is the right thing to do for the preservation of sustainable fisheries in our inshore waters," said Irish Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
