SalMar Aker Ocean consolidates its offshore and exposed aquaculture expertise, acquiring 100 percent of the shares in Arctic Offshore Farming AS from SalMar.
The three have launched the Ocean Stewardship Initiative, whose main objective is to support the creation of a protected area in Antarctica, the main krill harvesting zone.
Since 2010, Aker BioMarine has been working to promote environmental care as a Norwegian company specialized in circular design and sustainable operations.
Both companies will support the proposal, presented by Argentina and Chile, to protect 70% of the Antarctic Peninsula at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York.
