For the first time, Ecuador has an exclusive shrimp pavilion at the 30th edition of Gulfood, one of the largest food and beverage fairs, which takes place from February 17 to 21 at the Dubai World Trade Centre in the United Arab Emirates.

Through Ecuador's 'First Class Shrimp' brand, the National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA) represents the country at this international event, where more than 5,500 exhibitors from 129 countries will gather.

The companies Aquagold and Expalsa are responsible for representing the sector in a 48 m² space within the "World Food" zone.

"We are proud to bring Ecuador First Class Shrimp to an event as significant and relevant as Gulfood, and to such an important market as the United Arab Emirates. The nearly 30% growth in our exports reflects global recognition of the excellence of our product, Ecuadorian shrimp, which is the best in the world," said María Fernanda Vilches, Manager of International Fairs at CNA.

According to the CNA, Ecuador is the world's largest shrimp exporter, contributing 6.058 billion dollars in foreign exchange during the last year.

The organization has confirmed that throughout 2025, they will also participate in international fairs such as World Seafood Shanghai (Shanghai, China), Seafood Expo Asia (Singapore), and China Fisheries & Seafood Expo (Qingdao, China).

The Best Shrimp in the World

The National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA), along with the Sustainable Shrimp Partnership (SSP) and the Seafood Nutritional Partnership (SNP), presented in 2024 a new specialized guide to promote the nutritional benefits of shrimp.

The 'Nutritional Guide to Shrimp' emphasizes that lean protein is crucial for muscle development and repair, promotes bone health, helps with weight management, and supports overall functioning.

Additionally, CNA and SSP collaborated on other initiatives, such as the 'Scale-Up Programme for Shrimp Hatcheries'. This project promotes the sustainable management of shrimp larvae production.
