Scottish Sea Farms (SSF) has announced the appointment of Helen Conlon as its new Fish Health and Welfare Manager for Mainland South. After working for Huon Aquaculture in Tasmania, Conlon returns to the Scottish aquaculture sector.

In 2022 was named the Rising Star at the Women in Scottish Aquaculture (WiSA) Awards. The annual WiSA awards highlight the important role female talent plays in Scotland's valuable seafood production sector and its supply chain.

Previously, SSF's new manager worked as a Farm Technician at Mowi Scotland after obtaining a degree in Marine Zoology and a Master's in Marine Management. Later, she became Division Manager for Scotland at Nordic Cover and ultimately held the position of Quality Manager at Loch Duart.

WiSA's rising star of 2024

WiSA's rising star of 2024 was awarded to Alison Brough, fish veterinarian at Scottish Sea Farms, for her contribution to sector-wide advancements in fish health and welfare over the past year. 

During last International Women’s Day, the organization announced the winners of its annual awards and celebrated its 5th anniversary. The nominees were judged by an independent panel, with winners announced during a virtual ceremony held online today.
