The Megaport Puerto Chancay project in Lima, Peru, will have a significant economic and social impact, generating $4.5 billion annually, Minister of Production (PRODUCE) Sergio Gonzalez Guerrero, informed.

In other words, the PRODUCE Minister assured this will translate into 1.8% of the country's GDP, which would create 8,550 direct jobs, due to the potential relationship with other Asia-Pacific economies.

"The opportunities of the Chancay Megaport will enable us to target the Asia-Pacific market, where 55% of the world's population lives, accounting for 22% of imports and 38% of the world's GDP," he specified.

Therefore, Peru will be able to export their fish and seafood products, such as anchovies, scallops, and even trout, to China, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia

In March, the new Artisanal Landing Site of Puerto Morín in La Libertad, which received $16 million in funds, was inaugurated. It is expected to reach up to 120 tons of production per day, mainly of tuna, parrotfish, sea bass, and corvina, benefiting around 1.200 artisanal fishing agents directly and indirectly.
