The Chilean business association representing farmed salmon producers, Salmon Council, announced on its social media account that Loreto Seguel has concluded her term as Executive President of the organisation.
After four years at the helm, Seguel will take over as President of the Chilean Maritime and Port Chamber (CAMPORT). Daniel Fernández has concluded his nearly decade-long tenure at the head of the organisation, according to Chilean specialist media outlet Diario Acuícola.
The Council confirmed that, under Seguel's leadership, it increased its engagement with public authorities and public- and private-sector representatives, particularly on issues related to the growth, investment and development of the salmon farming industry.
CAMPORT is a trade association established in 1944 that works to promote the sustainable growth of Chile's maritime and port sectors and strengthen the country's international trade through its ports.
Diario Acuícola reported CAMPORT's remarks on the appointment, describing it as bringing a fresh perspective to the infrastructure, logistics, competitiveness and port development challenges Chile will face in the coming years. Also, the board also acknowledged Fernández's leadership during his nearly decade-long tenure.
Last July, the Salmon Council and leading agricultural organisations joined forces to strengthen ties between agriculture and salmon farming in southern Chile.
Agriculture and salmon farming representatives, business associations, authorities and innovation stakeholders met to discuss ways to support local suppliers, foster innovation and boost regional development.
