Skretting
Skretting Global has appointed Jorge Díaz as the new Director of Sustainability and Communications, making him the first Chilean to hold such a position in the multinational aquafeed company.
Díaz initially joined Skretting Chile as Communications Manager in 2015, before relocating to Norway in 2018, where he most recently held the position of Sustainability Director.
With this appointment, Skretting aims to meet its sustainability goals and address customer needs and business priorities. The fulfillment of these challenges will be achieved through structured communication with all stakeholders.
"This new role will allow us to respond to market developments faster, drive key initiatives that are aligned across our business, and communicate on our sustainability progress in one clear, strong voice," indicated Skretting CEO Bastiaan van Tilburg, CEO of Skretting.
Additionally, Díaz expressed: "I look forward to uniting the sustainability and communications functions across Skretting, and to strengthening our engagement with customers and other stakeholders to co-create change without compromising on our social and environmental responsibilities."
In mid-May, the Norwegian company DNV, acting as an independent certification body for the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), awarded the Feed Standard certificate to Skretting for its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and human rights.
This standard evaluates producers based on their compliance with requirements such as labor and social rights, health and safety, environmental management, and the responsible sourcing of raw materials.
Furthermore, ASC announced in March that Skretting Japan's Imari Plant was the first feed mill in the country to achieve the Feed Standard certification. Skretting's plant is located in Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, the Imari Plant, and produces feed for species such as freshwater trout, salmon, bass, bream, meager, seriola, cobia, and tropical marine finfish.
Finally, Skretting Spain turned into Europe's first ASC-certified feed factory. This distinction applauded the feed company's efforts to recognize and mitigate the environmental and social risks facing aquaculture, while advancing towards sustainability.
