The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) has announced the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors. The Executive Chair of MarinTrust, Libby Woodhatch, and the Executive Director of the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI), Jeremy Woodrow, join the group of sector leaders who guide the mission of the international, nonprofit trade association dedicated to advancing responsible seafood practices through education, advocacy and third-party assurances.
"We are thrilled to welcome Libby and Jeremy to the GSA Board of Directors," GSA CEO Mike Kocsis stated. "Both bring deep expertise and leadership across critical areas of the seafood value chain—from responsible sourcing and certification to global marketing and market development."
In the case of Libby Woodhatch, according to the GSA statement, she brings more than two decades of experience in the seafood supply chain and standards development. Furthermore, as Executive Chair of MarinTrust, she leads one of the world's leading certification programs for marine ingredients.
The association also highlighted that, before this role, Woodhatch has served as Head of Advocacy at Seafish, CEO of Seafood Scotland, and held leadership roles focused on responsible fishing and seafood ethics.
"I'm genuinely delighted to join the GSA Board of Directors," Libby Woodhatch said. "MarinTrust and GSA already share a strong partnership through our longstanding Memorandum of Understanding, which reflects our shared commitment to responsible seafood. Through my work with MarinTrust, I've seen firsthand how collaboration and credible assurance programmes can drive meaningful progress across our industry."
"Stepping into this role with GSA further strengthens that cooperation, and I look forward to working alongside such dedicated colleagues to advance responsible practices across the global seafood sector," she added, commenting on her appointment.
Jeremy Woodrow, for his part, serves as Executive Director of the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, where he leads global marketing efforts to promote the value and sustainability of Alaskan seafood products.
GSA noted that, since joining ASMI in 2017, he has played a key role in advancing the organization's mission to strengthen markets for Alaska's fishing industry and support coastal communities.
"It's an honor to join the incredibly experienced and diverse GSA Board of Directors," he said, appreciating his appointment. "I look forward to collaborating with industry leaders to further GSA's mission and expand consumer confidence in responsibly sourced seafood," Jeremy Woodrow added.
The Global Seafood Alliance noted that both join a group of industry leaders—the last addition had been Moritz Konz, Sustainability Manager Fish and Seafood at ALDI SOUTH Group, in September 2025—who, from their Board of Directors, are guiding the work of GSA which, through the development of its certification programs, has become the leading provider of assurances for wild and farmed seafood globally.
In its effort to advance environmentally and socially responsible seafood practices, the association—which in 2024 saw 5% rise in certified facilities—announced this week, a collaboration with Certified Seafood International (CSI) to expand market access for responsibly sourced seafood.
